Mal Whichelow: What drew you to 80's style music?

Lina and The Lions: When I was a kid, I loved watching movies and
my family had a great movie library. I watched ‘The Goonies’, ‘Back
to the Future’, ‘Flashdance’, ‘Footloose’, ‘Rocky’, and many more
action films that I am sure I wasn’t old enough to watch! I didn’t
even think what year the movies were from -- I just loved them and
fell in love with their soundtracks! I guess the feeling of euphoria
that the music gave me stayed with me growing up and now that I
am creating my own music, it is born naturally from that happy
nostalgic place.

MW: When and how did the band get together?

Lina: I met Lee Feltham (Multi-instrumentalist/Producer) in a pub
in Sheffield when we were teens, and in 2020, we launched ‘Lina
and the Lions’. The events of that year really made us question our
path and our purpose. Music is what we love and what we do so
we recorded and released our album ‘Second Nature’. Live, we are
joined by drummer and friend Bradley Mitchell, and this year,
drummer Sam O’Brien.

MW: How many releases have you put out so far and what are
they?

Lina: To date, we have independently released six singles, four
music videos, a full-length album ‘Second Nature’, an acoustic EP
‘Get Reel Sessions,’ and recently, a synthwave remix EP
‘Unrealwave’.
