I spoke to Lewis about the band.
Mal Whichelow: When and how did Air Drawn Dagger get together?
Lewis Budden: We originally started releasing music in 2015 after me and vocalist Maisie began
writing songs in the back of a cake shop in Sheffield before we cut our teeth playing to all
sorts of crowds -- from older punks at hardcore shows to young couples in tapas restaurants.
Wild time!
MW: How would you describe your music?
LB: We are often described as an electronic, punky, angst-pop collective. 'Electronic Emo' is also
thrown about.
MW: Who writes the songs? Is there a regular method to your songwriting or is there a degree
of spontaneity about it?
LB: Me and Maisie have always written acoustically or demoed together, but overall, we write
in loads of ways. Ross writes a bunch of ideas, or I will bring a rough skeleton of a song and
we will form it from there.
