I came across the artist VUE as I was perusing various music videos during the selection
process for a music competition show that was launching on the REELZ Channel, for which I
served as Co-Producer. VUE’s video for his song “I Can Do This” captured my attention from
the first beat of the song! I found myself bopping my head in time to the music, and in my
mind’s eye, I imagined this song as a splashy production number on a huge stage…with a
full-choir behind the artist; everyone swaying and clapping as VUE delivers his musical
message of inspiration. His video got a resounding “Yes!” from me. I was soon on the phone
with VUE, who lives in a small town in Clovis, New Mexico.
The man is as upbeat as his music! It became apparent to me that music was a deep-seated
passion burning within his core. But like many other indie artists, sometimes, life can present
its own challenges along one’s creative path. There’s raising a family, day jobs, and other
responsibilities to maneuver. It’s not easy to chase a dream when there are bills to pay and
people who count on you. It was readily apparent to me that this is a man with his priorities
in place. He doesn’t miss a beat when talking about his daughter, Harmony, that adorable
little girl who rocks out with her daddy in the video. His intense love and pride shine through
in his voice when he speaks of his sweet Harmony!
“I Can Do This” is a great representation of what VUE is about, as he chooses to write his
music with a clear intention to encourage and uplift others. He seeks to make people THINK
and not just REACT.
And how did VUE fare in the television show competition rankings? At the close of Season 1
of The One – Indie Music Battle on REELZ, “I Can Do This” not only cracked the Top 10 but
th
carried him to the 4 position. One could say that when it comes to VUE, life imitated art. He
proved that when it came to hanging with the best of them…he could do this!

I had the pleasure to reconnect with VUE recently…and here’s that insightful interview.
