“Life will come at you like a major league pitcher.
So, you gotta be a catcher if you don’t want it to get ya.
We all need haters ‘cause haters motivate us
Stay away from shady folks and all of them fakers.”
KP: I also first began to sing and play music in church at a young age, and
I valued this immensely. How did your experience with your church’s
music program help to shape you into the artist you are today?
V: As kids we were raised in church…no ifs, ands, or buts, we HAD to attend
church faithfully. We were also a part of the church choir. It molded me in
reaching the feeling of music because the spirituality brought a special feeling.
It also taught me that anything is possible through Him. That’s why my music is
nothing but a message.
KP: I like to think of songs as ‘life, set to music.’ Please tell our readers
about the story behind ‘I Can Do This.’ Why did you write this song?
V: I was a single parent. I knew the hassle that came along with having to wake
up each morning rummaging through things to find my keys and feed my
daughter and make sure she was set and get the both of us ready each day
whilst trying to get to work on time…all the mishaps in between all these things.
Yet, I still managed to get it all together and make things right and had the
constant mentality that I CAN DO THIS! I wanted to give people hope that no
matter what we face that we can overcome any obstacle that approaches us, no
matter what it is.
