In 2002, Gary took a break from singing but continued to perform with country music icon "Little Jimmy
Dickens" on the Grand Ole Opry. In 2009, there were changes made in the Grand Ole Opry and the
decision that stars with Country Music Hall of Fame status were no longer able to keep their road bands
on the Opry after they retired from the road.
In recent years, Gary has released three albums in his "For The Love Of Cash" series, blending original
songs along with his unique arrangements on some well-known classic country covers. His latest album,
"Heroes, Friends & Legends: For The Love Of Cash Volume 3,” has been on the charts since October
2019 and captured the number 1 spot in Feb/March 2020.
An exciting video was also released for the single from this latest album, "One Piece at a Time,” an iconic
Johnny Cash song which was The Man in Black's last #1 hit. The video for "One Piece at a Time" was
filmed at Johnny Cash's farm in Tennessee, which is now Storytellers Hideaway Farm and Museum. Gary
also released a duet with country music legend Leona Williams. Their version of the Cash/Carter classic
"Jackson" earned them 8 months on the NDX singles chart and two months at the #1 spot! They also
released a video for the song that has gained international attention.
