CL: Tell me more behind the video series ‘Parmalisms.’
MT: People kept asking us to make a Pictionary of these
words because they could not understand when we said it.
We basically made this series to explain all the words that
we heard growing up. Being from North Carolina, we have
a distinct dialect. All that this Pictionary images was to
explain words that we heard. They were not like funny
words. We thought they were funny. These people talk fast,
and they talk ‘country.’ That is where it all comes from.
CL: How is the band getting thru this pandemic?
MT: We are good, other than not having a paycheck. We
are getting by not doing shows. We are like everybody…
what do you do? We do some show stuff. For us it is
bittersweet. We have a hit song on the radio, and we cannot
get out and play. There is something real special about that
moment when a song is climbing up the charts, like it is right
now. You go out to a concert and see people singing a song
for the first time in a town you have never been in. It
happens to everybody, especially younger new artists that
are just coming out and just having a success for the first
time…finally get your #1 hit and it is in the middle of the
pandemic.
CL: What are the goals of the band? What are the
band’s aspirations?
MT: Is to play music for a living and not go back to the
struggle. We struggled for a long time, longer than most
people do.
CL: Is the band working on any new songs?
MT: We are writing new songs. We are writing every day
and going back to record some more. We have 18 songs
recorded. We are going to put out an EP, take the top best
songs we can, and release them with a new single.
CL: Who would the band most like to collaborate with
next?
MT: I am thinking Halsey, actually. That would be cool!
