As I arrived in Fort Collins for Rick Springfield’s set, I was met with dark storm
clouds that quickly changed to torrential rain and hail. Waiting out the storm in
my car, I was hoping that the show would not be canceled. After a few minutes,
the rain and hail lightened up enough to allow me entry into the park where the
annual festival “Taste of Fort Collins” was being held. There was a massive
crowd entering the park at this time as security had chased everyone out ahead
of the storm, and now throngs of eager concertgoers were making their way
back in. Thankfully, the show was just delayed, and if the weather stayed calm,
                               the show would go on!

Attendance began to build during the opening act and the fans kept packing in
until it was time for the reason they drove through the wind, rain, and hail…the
equally epic Rick Springfield. The crowd boasted a wide array of ages from
young to old; a testament to the star power of Rick Springfield, whose career
has spanned over half a century. In those 50+ years, Springfield has been able
to secure lifelong fans, but still stay fresh and relevant.
