Dancing and singing are what the Hooligans come for at every show, as their
reggae-tinged rock mixed in with pop and punk creates an endless Summer
feeling that is cleverly summed up (and printed on T-shirts) with
“#PunkRockReggaeSexMusic!” However, for me, personally, the highlight of the
evening was when they played a Doo-Wop kind of song off the new album called
“Let Her Go,” which is the last track on the “Girls” album and very different from
their usual groove. Howi, the lead singer, explained to the crowd why this little
Doo-Wop song was his personal favorite, as he wrote it as a homage to all the
Doo-Wop songs he grew up listening to as a kid. After playing an over 90-minute
aerobics set, Ballyhoo! finished off the night with three encore songs!
