Born in Lettsworth, Louisiana, blues legend BUDDY GUY is a
respected name in the genre of blues…and beyond. Many
of the world’s greatest musicians are admittedly influenced
by this trailblazing artist, including such notables as Eric
Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Stevie Ray
Vaughan, Jeff Beck, and John Mayer. Guy began his
illustrious career in the 1960s as a house guitarist at Chicago’s
Chess Records beginning his music path under the spell of
mentor Muddy Waters, also working alongside harmonica
player-pioneer Junior Wells.
Ranked 30th in Rolling Stone magazine's "100 Greatest
Guitarists of All Time,” Guy’s song "Stone Crazy" was ranked
78th in the Rolling Stone list of the "100 Greatest Guitar Songs
of All Time".
Guy has won seven Grammy Awards, for his work on electric
and acoustic guitars and for contemporary and traditional
forms of blues music. Guy was inducted into the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame on March 14, 2005, by Eric Clapton and B.B.
King.
Buddy Guy has been bringing his energetic blues and blues
rock sounds to the world for almost 50 years. His impact on BUDDY GUY
music of many genres is far-reaching and no doubt he will
continue to inspire generations of musicians to come. He
mesmerized the audiences at this year’s Summerfest!
