J. COLE (Jermaine Lamarr Cole), who began rapping at age 12, is both a rapper and
producer who, in 2009, was the first artist to officially sign on with Jay Z's Roc Nation. Cole
has produced for artists like Kendrick Lamar and Janet Jackson. In 2011, Roc Nation
released his official debut, “Cole World: The Sideline Story,” which debuted on top of the
Billboard 200. “Born Sinner” followed in 2013, featuring the single “Power Trip,” with guest
appearances from Miguel, TLC, and Kendrick Lamar. Released in 2014 and titled after the
address of his childhood home, “2014 Forest Hills Drive” continued Cole's streak of number
one albums. By the time Cole released his 2016 fourth album, the chart-topping “4 Your
Eyez Only,” Cole’s works had boasted platinum certifications for all three of his prior full-
lengths, along with ten charting Hot 100 singles as a top-billed artist, and three as a guest.
Early this year, Cole issued “KOD,” a dark and reflective cautionary concept that tackled
subjects like addiction and personal demons, which topped the charts upon its release.
