I caught up with the lads at their rehearsal studio to find out what they'd been up to…

Mal Whichelow: 2017 has been a busy year for you guys, what have been the highlights?

Andy: We got to meet The Black Lillies -- we got to support them. They were absolutely incredible.

Jody: They were really good, really professional. They did a great job…every single person in that band was
bringing something. It was a real masterclass.

Andy: Met up with The Goat Ropers. We've played with them a couple of times now; good bunch of guys.
They're from Rhyl in Wales. We also played our first time at the Maverick Americana Festival in Suffolk.

Mike: That was great. It had such a chilled vibe to it. It was a real good festival.

MW: You've recorded two live albums and one studio album. Which do you prefer making? What are the
          pros and cons?

          Jody: They're different beasts.

Mike: You only get one swipe at a live recording.

Jody: I personally probably listen to more live music than studio-based music. I think you potentially capture
something as well. That was my greatest fear -- of going into the studio properly with the band for the first
time and losing that spark that you get playing live. I think we did alright. I really like the studio album. I think
we like both live and studio recordings for different reasons.

MW: The studio album “This One's For You” took you about five days to record, but how long was the
          whole creative process behind it?

Andy: The principal recording was about five days, but overall it was a couple more than that.

Jody: The songs were already written, but there's bits of creativity in the studio and certainly bits of learning
how you play songs. When we played live, we sometimes didn't notice that things weren't meshing properly,
but when you're in the studio together, it makes you work harder on your craft and on your songs.

Andy: We came out of the studio a better band. We were tighter.

MW: One of your songs, “The Well,” is a real crowd-pleaser. What's the story behind that?
