RR: Probably the closest track to me is “Blown Away.” I wrote that about one of very best friends who passed
away about two years ago. I like them ALL!
JP: I hope you would like them all or you wouldn’t put them on the album.
RR: Really, it’s hard to play something for a year if you don’t like it.
JP: What’s going to be the next radio single?
RR: Man, that’s what we’ve been talking about this week. I’m not for sure yet. We’re getting ready to do another
big radio push. I am hoping it would be something like “Blown Away.” Radio is so different these days. It’s hard
to tell. I’ll have to let Bill (Chavis) answer that one.
JP: Tell Bill that’s the song that stuck out to me. We can expect some new music within a year or so?
RR: Bill was talking when “Grind” starts going down, he’s going to re-release “Delta Voodoo.” We’re gonna let
that run out while we’re working on new stuff. Next year we should have new stuff. We already have five or six
written. We’re gonna write until he tells us to go record.
JP: You’ve toured all over the country back in the day. Do you have a favorite area or town you’ve played?
RR: Man, there’s a lot of them. I’ll tell you there was a place called Hammerjacks in Baltimore. That is one of my
all-time favorite places to play just because that play was so crazy. What did it have -- like fourteen or fifteen
bars?
JP: What would you like to add? What do you want fans to know?
RR: If you hear we’re coming near you, come see us. Come with an open mind. It’s just gut music. It’s just straight
forward rock and roll. Come and leave your problems behind and listen to me bitch about my problems for a
little bit (laughing).
JP: I’ve heard someone prominent in the business say the music business is a menace to artists.
RR: Oh man, I don’t know. If you think you’re gonna get rich doing this, the ones that get rich are few and far
between. You just gotta really love to play music in front of people. As long as I can pay my bills and feed my
kids, I’m good. I don’t need to be this “ultra” Rockstar or whatever you wanna call it. I just love going out and
playing music and if people identify with it, that’s my thing. So, I don’t think that’s the case for me.
JP: I love that you continue to play music and appreciate you putting it out there for us to listen to. Keep on
performing because this is what we love.
RR: This is what we do. There’s not a lot else I can do. Maybe mow grass and paint a car or two. This is what I
love. It doesn’t matter if I’m playing for ten people or ten thousand people, if they’re into it, you can’t beat it.
