Find mean , mode and median and outlier for

( 19 , 3 , 5 , 7 , 4 , 5 , 6 )

Median = 19+3+5+7+4+5+6 = 7

Mode = 5

Median the data after rearranged ascendingly are

3 , 4 , 5 , 5 , 6 , 7 ,19

Median is the value lies in the middle = 5

The outlier is 19

The range = 19 – 3 = 16

Remarks

• If the outlier values are smaller than the other values, the
outlier decreases the mean.

• If the outlier values are greater than the other values, the
outlier increases the mean.

• The more numbers of the outliers, the more effect on the
mean.
