Inequality and solving inequalities:

Inequality: is a mathematical sentence that contains < , > , ≤ , ≥ .

Ex : - 4 < Y, 8.5 >Y, M ≤ 0, Z≥-1

Read > as is Read < as is less
         greater than. than

Read ≥ as is greater Read ≤ as is less
than or equal to than or equal to

Solving inequalities in the set of integers:

Any number that makes an inequality true is the solution of the inequality

X ≤ 7, means the integers which is less than or equal to 7
” some solutions 7 ,5, 0,- 2 , …..”

Solving inequalities in the set of rational numbers:

Any number that makes an inequality true is the solution of the inequality

X ≤ 7, means the rational which is less than or equal to 7

” some solutions 7 ,5.2, 0,- 2 2 , …..”
