WINTER WELFARE
From 19 up and including 21 december the Chess Festival Groningen will play
a role in the so called Winterwelvaart. This is a traditional Dutch event taking
place in and around the many canals in the center of Groningen. A lot of
historical fishing and sailing ships will host a variety of cultural and art-related
activities. Some of the ships will be open to the public.
The main location is the Hoge der Aa. Chess ship 'De Mars, this year again
hosting a group of some 20 Dutch talented youth players will offer the possibi-
lity to play blitz chess on its deck. For more information visit our website or the

ERIK SATIE
Tijdens het Schaakfestival Groningen 2014 is er naast het schaken als sport
ook aandacht voor de verbinding van schaken met kunst en cultuur. In dit
kader worden twee voorstellingen gegeven in de Remonstrantse kerk te
Groningen. Gea Passies en Johanan Havinga verzorgen een muzikaal
programma rondom de Franse componist Erik Satie. Met pianomuziek,
verhaal en zang, in combinatie met film en dans. De film in de voorstelling
speelt zich af in een café waar een schaakspel centraal staat.
Gea Passies en Johanan Havinga verzorgen als duo muzikale programma’s
rondom de componisten Kurt Weill, Erik Satie en Claude Debussy. In
ontwikkeling is een programma over Modeste Moussorgsky.
Data: maandag 22 en dinsdag 23 december, aanvang 20.15 uur, entree € 15.

Tijdens de voorstelling van maandag is het verhalende gedeelte in het
Nederlands, dinsdag is dat in het Engels.
