Krebs Cycle (KC)

• Also known as TCA (tricarboxylic acid cycle), or citric
   acid cycle.

• Reactions of KC occur in mitochondrial matrix.

• It has both catabolic and anabolic functions.

• Common final degradative pathway for breakdown of
   monomers of CHO, fat and protein to CO2 and H20.

• KC also provides intermediates for anabolic functions
   (eg gluconeogenesis).
