Uses:
• Now is rarely used due its high toxicity
• Anodyne in neuralgia, rheumatic pain and toothache (external use) in
the form of ointment or liniment or gargle in case of toothache.
• It can be used internally in case of fever with pain.
• It causes fall of the body temperature, lowering of sensibility, increase of
the amount of urine.(diuretic)
N.B Aconitine alkaloid is very potent and quick acting poison , which is not
easily detected ( ester alkaloid easily hydrolyzed). It can be used for
homicide. It has no antidote.
