How to develop a TLC method for substance X?
• Step 1: Prepare sample & standard solutions preferably
as 0.2-0.5 % solutions in CH3OH or CHCl3.
• Step 2: Choose the suitable adsorbent
The majority of separations can be performed on silica
gel G or silica gel GF layers (for normal phase separation).
Octadecylsilica (C18)layers are suitable for reversed phase
(RP) separations.
