• It consists of 3 subunits troponin C, I, and T.
• Troponin is useful for late diagnosis of AMI because elevated concentration can be detected

from blood even 7-10 days after onset.

Biochemical markers in Ami:

Marker start Peak Duration of elevation
                             7 –10 days
LDH-1 10 –12 h 2–3 days 3 –4 days
Total CK 2 –8 h 12 –30 h 2 –3 days
CK-MB 4 –6 h 24 h 7 –10 days

Lipid profile: A pattern of lipids in the blood.

A lipid profile usually includes the levels of total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL)
cholesterol, very low-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides.
• Atherogenic ratio = LDLC/HDLC
• It Ordered to determine the risk of heart disease

Cholesterol levels:
• High level associated with heart disease.
• Good level: below 200 mg/dl (low risk of heart disease).
• Border line: 240mg/dl (if higher at high risk).
• Some drugs are known to increase cholesterol levels as anabolic steroids, beta blockers,
epinephrine, oral contraceptives and vitamin D.

Total Cholesterol (TC)
• Directly linked to risk of heart and blood vessel disease.
• Goal values: 75-169 mg/dL for those age 20 and younger 100-199 mg/dL for those over age
21.
