Tablet Compression Machines:
Single-punch press (eccentric):
• Single die and two punches.
• Low production rate.
• Suitable for R&D or small batches.
Rotary press:
• Multiple dies arranged on rotating turret.
• High-speed continuous production.
• Up to 300,000 tablets/hour.
Multi-layer rotary press:
• Compresses two or more layers sequentially.
• Used for incompatible drugs or modified release.
Tablet Coating Equipment:
1. Standard coating pan:
o Stainless steel pan inclined 30–45°.
o Tablets tumble while coating sprayed.
2. Perforated pan systems:
o Accela-Cota, Glatt, Driacoater.
o Efficient drying, uniform coating.
3. Fluidized bed coater:
o Tablets or pellets fluidized by air stream.
o Suitable for small particles and pellets.
Coating Process Control:
• Inlet air temperature, humidity, spray rate, and atomization pressure adjusted carefully.
• Over-wetting leads to sticking; overdrying leads to brittleness.
