The ribosome continues the process of translation until it encounters a
termination codon on the mRNA. When this happens, the growing protein
called a polypeptide chain is released from the tRNA and the ribosome
splits back into large and small subunits
The newly formed polypeptide chain undergoes post translational
modifications before becoming a fully functioning protein
Post translational modification (PTMs)
They are chemical modifications to the newly formed polypeptide chain.
These chemical alterations give the proteins their different structures and
functions

   • Secondary (2°) Protein Structure
   • Tertiary (3°) Protein Structure
