EUCALYPTUS LEAVES

 It is the dried leaf of Eucalyptus globules family Myrtaceae.

 Constituents:
- Volatile oil having an aromatic odor and contain about 70.00%
 cineole.
- Tannins.
 Uses:
 - Eucalyptus leaves are used as an expectorant for symptomatic

  treatment of mild inflammation of the respiratory tract,
  bronchitis, and asthma.
 The oil is used internally for cough/bronchitis and externally as
 a rubefacient for rheumatic complaints.

 Precautions:
 - Preparations of Eucalyptus should not be administered
  internally to children or patients with inflammation of the
  gastrointestinal tract, gall bladder disease or impaired liver
  function.

 Pregnant & lactating women: Eucalyptus oil should not be taken
 internally during pregnancy and lactation.

 3. Medicinal leaves used as cardiotonic:

                            DIGITALIS LEAVES
                               (Foxglove leaves)

 Definition:
 Digitalis is the dried leaves of the Digitalis purpurea family
 Scrophulariaceae. It should contain not less than 0.30 % of total
 cardenolides, calculated as digitoxin.
