d- Basal: when there is one ovule attached on the apex of
      unilocular ovary.

   e- Apical: When there is one ovule attached on the apex of
      unilocular ovary.

Style and Stigma
      The stigma with or without the style is usually inserted on the

apex or of the ovary, thus stigma is described as stalked when
carried on a style and sessile when the style is absent e.g.
Papaveraceae.

                                  Receptacle

      The receptacle is flattened, convex or conical shortened axis
on which are arranged the floral leave. The receptacle is always
short but occasionally it is elongated, the elongated portion is
called:

   1- Hypanthium: It is the elongation of the receptacle below
      calyx and ovary as in cloves.

   2- Carpophore: It is the elongation of the receptacle between
      the carpels as in Umbellifarae.

      According to the arrangement of the floral parts on the
receptacle, the flower may be:

   a- Hypogynous: when all floral parts are inserted below the
      ovary.
