1.Sample is injected into a hot injector port
2.Carrier gas flows through the injector to the GC Column.
3.Mark injection time (zero) on the chart (chromatogram)

Separation based on interaction (affinity) between solute & stationary
phase

          Partition & solute volatility (GLC)
          Adsorption & solute volatility (GSC)

•process is repeated many times as the components migrate through the
column.
