*Components of the mixture

at varying time .
*Detector send a signal to the chart recorder which results in
a peak onchromatogram (chart paper ).
*Compounds that interact more strongly with the stationary
phase, more
retained in stationary phase & move more slowly through
the column, eluted last .
GC is simillar to frational distillation
