Cocaine

• The natural compound Cocaine

(benzoylmethylecgonine) it is a tropane

alkaloid obtained from the leaves of the coca

plant. Used as local anesthetic.

• Procaine is the synthetic prototype of cocaine

and used also as local anesthetic.

• The structure of procaine is much simple than
