• The number of chromosomes normally present
  in the plant cell nucleus is termed the somatic
  number ,this number is usually an even one.

• Chromosomes are not all alike……..

• Chromosomes arrange themselves in pairs, the
  two members of each pair being exactly alike in
  size, position….etc.

• Thus, the complete set of chromosomes is
  composed of two haploid (n) sets and such
  organisms as contain them are termed diploid
  (2n).
