Effect of auxins

• [IAA] stimulates shoot growth but inhibits buds opening.
• IAA is produced at the tip of the plant and is transported

  downward.
• The high concentrations near the apex inhibit lateral buds

  opening.
• As the concentration decreases it frees the buds from the

  inhibition and they develop. (growth response in low
  concentration).
