of a particular pathway may benefit the
development of novel drugs for treating
diseases.
Example: statins for hypercholesterolemia
(statins are strong inhibitors of
Hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase,
the key enzyme in the mevalonate
pathway for cholesterol biosynthesis).
