c) Oxygenases:
These catalyse the direct addition of oxygen from O2 to the substrate; they
are subdivided into:
* Mono-oxygenases;
• These introduce one O atoms from molecular oxygen into the substrate.
• The second O from O2 is reduced to water by NADH or NADPH.
• Cytochrome P-450 mono-oxygenases are typical examples and are
involved in hydroxylation.
