Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)
By the end of this course students must be able to:
1. Know the exact definition of herbal drugs and the bases for their evaluation.
2. Distinguish the different problems facing the herbal pharmaceutical industry.
3. Identify the different components of an HPLC system.
4. Learn the different analytical HPLC methods used for the analysis of plant
components.
5. Understand the technical application of HPLC in the evaluation of phyto-
pharmaceuticals (qualitatively and quantitatively).
6. Understand the basic knowledge needed to operate an HPLC.
