WATER ACIDITY (pH < 7)
It is caused by dissolved carbon dioxide "free carbonic
acid", mineral acids and salts of strong acids and weak
bases.
❑ DETERMINATION : (Titrimetry)
(a) Total acidity : water sample is titrated st. alkali
(NaOH) using ph.ph. indicator.
(b) Mineral acids acidity : water sample is titrated st.
alkali (NaOH) using M.O. indicator.
* The acidity is calculated as ppm CaCO3.
