Limitations of MR delivery systems
1. Dose Dumping: release of the drug at once or at a higher
rate, OR Premature release.
2. In case of occurrence of adverse effects or accidental
intoxication; it is very difficult or impossible to remove the
drug from the system. (DS and route of administration)
3. For orally administered MR systems:
a. variable physiological factors of the GIT (e.g.--------) may
interfere with the precision of control of the drug release
leading to erratic or variable absorption.
b. The maximal release period and hence therapeutic
response duration is limited by GIT transit time.
