4- Dose size
• A controlled release system usually contains greater amount of
the drug than corresponding conventional dosage form.
• For drugs with a conventional dose > 0.5-1 gram, the volume of
SR/CR dosage form may be too large, impractical or
unacceptable depending on the route of administration.
