2- Elimination and biological half life
• Drugs with a half life > 8 hours are of less need for CR
formulations e.g. Digoxin, Warfarin, Phenytoin.
• Drugs with a half life < 2 hours?
Generally unsuitable except if they have small dose size & high
safety margin.
• Drugs with a half-life value 2-8 hours are excellent candidates.
