             The constituents of spirulina include protein (50-70% dry wt) including all essential

         amino-acids, essential fatty acids, polysaccharides, vitamins B particularly vitamin B12,
         beta-carotene and minerals particularly iron.

Action and uses

1. Detoxes Heavy metals (Especially Arsenic) according to the World Health Organization.
2. An effective antimicrobial agent, particularly for candida.
3. Spirulina deserves a place in natural HIV treatment. It showed a clinically significant

   improvement in CD4 and decreased HIV viral load.
4. Spirulina is a fantastic source of antioxidants, which can protect against oxidative damage

   (Phycocyanin).
5. Spirulina fusiformis prevents oral cancer leukoplakia in people who chewed tobacco.
6. Spirulina has hepatoprotective properties, and a hypolipidemic effect. Japanese researchers

   discovered that Phycocyanin is a pigment found in spirulina that possesses antihypertensive
   effects.
7. Spirulina enhances red cell production and function. Levels of anaemia also decreased in
   children when their diet was supplemented with spirulina.
8. Food colouring.
9. Spirulina polysaccharides possesses a potential anticancer activities, cytokine modulation, and
   strong immunostimulatory effect.

Dosage:

Spirulina is taken orally, as capsules, tablets, powder or as flakes either dried or freeze-dried form.
Standard doses of 2 to 3g per day have been recommended by manufacturers.
