Bladderwrack is POSSIBLY SAFE when applied to the skin. Bladderwrack is POSSIBLY UNSAFE
when taken by mouth. It contain high concentrations of iodine, which could cause or worsen
some thyroid problems.

                                 Red algae

        • Red marine algae supports a healthy immune system because of its sulfated
            polysaccharide content.

        • A good source of vitamin K.
        • Red algae (Rhodophyta) Carrageenan is made from Chondrus crispus
        • Red algae (Rhodophyta) Agar is made from Gracilaria.
        • Agar is a colloidal agent which showed its unique ability to form thermally reversible

            gels at low temperatures.
        • Agar uses

                 o in the pharmaceutical industry (as a laxative, or as an inert carrier for drug
                     products where slow release of the drug is required).

                 o in bacteriology and mycology as a stiffening agent in growth media.
                 o A stabilizer for emulsions o A constituent of cosmetic skin preparations,

                     ointments, and lotions.
                 o In food, s an antidrying agent in breads and pastry, and also for gelling and

                     thickening purposes.

Irish moss  Carrageen

Carrageen is the dried bleached red algae Chondrus crispus L. family Gigartinaceae.
