3- Aconitine has local anesthetic effect, that is why the drug and its powder
   causing numbness & tingling sensation on the tongue. This is the base
   of its use as anodyne or local analgesic.

Uses:
• Anodyne in neuralgia, rheumatic pain and toothache (external use), in

   the form of ointment, liniment or gargle in case of toothache.
• It can be used internally in case of fever accompanied with pain. Usually

   in small doses of tincture to be increased gradually.
• If taken internally, it causes fall of the body temperature, lowering of

   sensibility and increase of the amount of urine (Diuretic).
   N B: It is rarely used now due its high toxicity.
Note:

Aconitine alkaloid is very potent and quick acting poison, which
is not easily detected (ester alkaloid easily hydrolyzed). It can be
used for homicide.
