The Ag wire of the internal ref electrode is connected to one
terminal of a voltmeter, and the SCE is connected to the other
terminal.
The majority of the commercially available pH electrodes are
combination design that has both glass electrode and the
reference electrode conveniently placed in one house.
The scale on the pH meter has been calibrated to read the pH
directly.
