DEGRADATION OF PYRIMIDINES:

CMP and UMP degraded to bases similarly to purines (Dephosphorylation,
   Deamination, Glycosidic bond cleavage)

Objectives:
By the end of this chapter students should:
1) Describe the molecular structure and function of nucleic acid
2) Recall the structure and function of nucleotides & nucleic acids and

appreciate their role in protein synthesis and inheritance.
3) Correlate the structure of biomolecules and their biological function
4) Comprehend the biochemical basis of drug action in view of structure

and function of basic macromolecules present in our bodies.
5) Discuss and interpret etiology and symptoms of some diseases related to

   disturbances in biological molecules
6) Develop skills of independent learning through searching to get

   information
