Symptoms

• Glycogen accumulates and destroy muscle cells (heart
   and respiratory muscles).

• Many patients need ventilators to breathe.

• The signs and symptoms of Pompe disease are directly
   related to the muscles affected.

• The disease is progressive in nature, and affects liver,
   respiratory and cardiac muscle.
