This Dharti, or Bhumi, provides an ideal platform, not only for existence, but provides an
opportunity to serve HIS creation, to perform Karam and to make ourselves eligible for his

Nadar. To perform these duties, it is critical to remain immersed in this world, shun neither the
earth nor the body, and participate in it fully and intensely.

The question that comes to mind is why service to HIS creation?

First, the Divine is manifested in everyone and everything and service to his creation is service to
the Waheguru. Second, our Karam become our habits and character, and we are judged in the
Darbar of the Nirankar based on the Karam done during our lifetime. Hence deeds such as Sewa,
Langar, Kirat Karnaa , and Vand Chakna, treating everyone equally and justly, being honest,
tolerant, forgiving, and compassionate are critical to realize the truth and free oneself from the

            cycle of birth and death.

One must keep in mind that it is not in our individua capacity to serve, but only through Nadar
that righteous actions can be performed and rewarded.

Gyan Khand is the realm of knowledge, and enlightenment. During this passage one becomes
cognizant of the vastness and depth of HIS Creation – the countless planets and stars, the
innumerable deities, languages, religions, and more; all of which makes one stand in complete
admiration. Gyan demonstrates that there should be no distinctions, inequalities, or
discriminations between different classes, gender, cultures, languages, and peoples. If there are
any, then it is our social responsibility to take action, and strive towards a world where there is
equality, freedom, and respect for all.

Gyan emphasizes not only the pursuit of knowledge, but also Karam and action - action towards
preservation and protection of life forms, action against abuse and exploitation, action assisting
fellow human beings and action for the overall well-being of humanity. Gyan also makes us realize
how insignificant we are in relation to the whole creation. It completely shatters our ego,

destroys our pride, and gives us an understanding that Waheguru is the Ultimate and everything is
            happening according to His Hukam.

Finally, acquisition of this knowledge is not through solitary confinement, bodily suffering, or
torture; but only with the Grace of the Guru. With Gyan, ignorance is dispelled, and one
experiences true joy and pleasure, in front of which all worldly joys are insignificant.
