 Majority of the lighting is provided by fluorescent fixtures utilizing T8 lamps and
electronic ballasts. Depending upon the application and the ceiling types the fixtures are either recessed mounted or surface mounted. The fixtures were upgraded to their present state in 1998. The fluorescent fixtures are in the process of being changed out to the LED type. About half of the lighting in the school has been changed out.
COMMENTS: No action is necessary, as the fluorescent lights are being replaced with LED lamps on an ongoing basis as the lamps and/or fixtures need replacing.
4.0 EMERGENCY LIGHTING
Emergency lighting is provided by battery packs and remoted heads located
throughout the school and illuminate all points and paths of egress during a power failure. Emergency lighting was upgraded in 2017.
COMMENTS: The average life cycle of emergency lighting battery packs is 20 years. No action is necessary.
5.0 FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
An addressable fire alarm system has been provided throughout the school and is complete with detection devices, manual pull stations, and signal devices. Combination type horn/strobe units provide the notification of alarm conditions. The main control panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system is the product of Edwards model Quickstart, and was installed in 2017. The system is tested annually.
COMMENTS: No action necessary, as the average life cycle of a fire alarm system is 25 years.
6.0 INTRUSION ALARM SYSTEM
An intrusion alarm system has been provided and is complete with motion detection devices, keypads and a control panel. The main control panel is located in the server room. It is the product of DSC Security Systems and was installed in 2012.
COMMENTS: No action necessary, as the average life cycle of an intrusion alarm system is 25 years.
