MICROSOFT SERVER EVERGREEN RECOMMENDATIONS
•Renew the existing Dell PowerEdge server SLA for one more year. The cost of renewing this agreement for another year will need to be determined. (TBD)
•Collaboratively develop a strategic server ever-greening transition approach that encompasses an aligned, scalable, sustainable, future proof implementation plan to upgrade or migrate the local infrastructure and services to a cloud-hosted platform before any warranty or support service contracts end on the existing server equipment. Reference - Microsoft Server Ever-green Transition Planning slide.
•Collaboratively develop and maintain a “proactive versus a reactive” approach to ever-greening essential technology infrastructure and services.
•Collect and capture pertinent usage analytics to make an informed decision in regards to maintaining or transitioning the local Microsoft server infrastructure as it aligns to the current and anticipated service requirements for the school district.
•Collect and capture pertinent network and Google Apps usage analytics to make an informed decision in regards to the required services for administration, instructional staff, support staff, and students.

•Collaboratively work with contracted service consultants to research best practice implementation frameworks in regards to providing cloud-hosted Microsoft services over SuperNet and ISP infrastructure and bandwidth.
•Collaboratively work with or partner with other Alberta School Jurisdictions to explore and develop best practice implementation frameworks in regards to providing cloud- hosted Microsoft services over SuperNet infrastructure and bandwidth restrictions.
•Collaboratively develop an ITIL framework with service level support agreements (SLA) that indicate the local IT and contract service responsibilities for the technological infrastructure and services as it aligns to management, instruction, assessment, student learning, and communication practices.
