Bottle Cap Trick
Needed: Empty beer bottle; bent bottle cap; balled up piece of cocktail napkin or
cigarette butt; a straw
The Bet: Use a straw to blow a concentrated stream of air to push the bottle cap, balled
up piece of cocktail napkin, (or cigarette butt), into the bottle.
The How: 1. Remove the metal cap from a bottle and empty the contents of the bottle,
(preferably by drinking it.)
2. Fold the bottle cap in half.
3. Lay the bottle on its side on a flat surface.
4. Place the folded bottle cap, balled up piece of cocktail napkin, (or cigarette butt), just
inside the mouth of the bottle. Make sure more than half of the bottle cap is inside the
mouth of the bottle, and slightly less than half is still outside of the bottle.
5. Make a bet with your spectator that they cannot blow the cap inside the bottle. When
they try to blow into the bottle, the cap will pop out every single time. This happens
because, when the air goes inside the bottle and behind the bottle cap, it forces the cap
out of the bottle.
6. You win!
Additional Bet:
If the tables are turned and they want to see if you can do it, you can make another bet –
perhaps for drinks all night on them – if you are able to do it. Use a straw to blow a
concentrated stream of air to push the bottle cap, balled up piece of cocktail napkin, (or
cigarette butt), into the bottle.
