PUBLIC MEETING FOR FUTURE IDEAS FOR OUR BOROUGH’S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
WED., NOV. 10 • 7:00 P.M. SYCAMORE ROOM GREEN TREE MUNICIPAL CENTER
Help determine the future direction
of Green Tree Borough.
Hello everyone,
The Green Tree Planning Commission has started a review on the Borough’s Comprehensive Plan to be used as a guide for planning purposes for the borough’s future. They have been reviewing the 2010 Comprehensive Plan and its objectives over the past few months and now they are seeking input from people who live or work in Green Tree, business owners, and other interested groups and stakeholders with ideas for improvements and direction for Green Tree over the next ten years. The current Comprehensive Plan is available on Green Tree’s website and the largest ob- jective completed from the 2010 plan was the overhaul of the borough’s Zoning Code.
Planning Commission has scheduled a special public meeting on Wednesday, November 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal Center inviting all interested parties including residents, businesses and other Green Tree stakeholders to attend and provide ideas and input on the best and worst of Green Tree. If you are unable to attend this special meeting focusing on the development of Green Tree’s Comprehensive Plan, Planning Commission also meets in person on the second and fourth Wednesdays, as needed. Check greentreeboro.com/calendar1.php to con rm upcoming scheduled Planning Commission meetings.

The Borough’s parks and facilities had a semblance of normalcy this summer with our community’s residents and families spending time outdoors and together. Here are a few highlights:
• Wilson Park Pool was open to residents and non-resident guests. As I have mentioned in past articles, the pool is aging and has far exceeded its life expectancy, so the borough is deciding on a course of action that may include a complete overhaul within the next few years. Our Public Works Department, Borough Engineer, and Pool Manager are measuring water leakage through a re ll metering device to determine the problem severity, and we’ve contracted with a swimming pool expert to help guide the decision-making process, which will be thoughtful and deliberate.
• Livestream video capabilities were added in Council Cham- bers so that public meetings can be accessed remotely over the internet. Please check the borough’s website for each meeting’s weblink.
• Repairs to address signi cant drainage issues at the Hemlock II baseball eld have started. The eld is likely to be closed through next summer to ensure the out eld grass roots are established before games are played.
• Green Tree is engaging with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to assess the borough’s operations, including Finance, Public Safety, Administration, and Public Works to help us discover improvement opportunities in those areas.
I appreciate how well our Borough’s volunteer organizations and administration collaborate to generate ideas for improving our facilities so that our residents and children can enjoy them. If you have an idea or suggestion for enhancing our Borough’s public spaces, please contact the administration or me directly.
