EXPRESSION OF ASKING AND GIVING OPINIONS
Lesson : Expression of Asking and Giving Opinions. (Part 1)
In meetings or various discussions, we deal with opinions or ideas. We may ask other's
opinions or somebody may ask our opinion about a particular topic.
There are expressions usually used to ask and give opinions :
1. Asking somebody's opinion.
• Do you have any thought on........?
• Do you think............?
• What do you think (about.........) ?
• What are your ideas ?
• How do you feel (about........... ) ?
• What do you reckon (about........) ?
• What is your attitude towards.......?
2. Giving your Opinion.
• I think (that)...............
• I feel (that)............
• I reckon (that)............
• I guess (that).............
• I believe (that)..........
• From my point of view...............
• In my opinion................
• My attitude towards............ is..........
Example :
• I think our city is overpopulated.
• I reckon that our team played better than our rivals.
• In my opinion, economy is growing because of high consumption of fuel.
To express a strong opinion, we may say :
• I'm absolutely convinced that.........
• I'm very sure that...............
• I strongly believe that..........
• I have no doubt that...........

A. Read and learn carefully about our lesson "The expression of Asking and Giving
Opinions".
B. Fill in the blanks with suitable expressions :
