INSULATION, AIR SEALING AND LEAK PREVENTION
LP FlameBlock Fire-
Rated OSB Sheathing
FlameBlock Fire-Rated OSB Sheathing is certified to meet fire
code compliance and delivers higher design values than FRT
plywood at the same thickness. The sheathing—which
features a proprietary, non-combustible, fiberglass-reinforced
Pyrotite treatment—can be used in Type II, III and V
construction, and is a listed component in fire-rated interior
wall assemblies, exterior wall assemblies and roof deck
applications.
Builders like the product because it reduces the time and
cost related to installing a combination of gypsum and
structural sheathing. FlameBlock’s fastener-holding capability
also simplifies installation of exterior-facing materials, which
provides further savings.
Huber Engineered
Woods ZIP System
R-Sheathing
With builders still striving to meet prescriptive continuous
foam insulation R-value requirements outlined in the 2015
International Energy Conservation Code, Huber Engineered
Woods now offers ZIP panels with rigid foam attached for
exterior insulation.
The ZIP System R-Sheathing’s new R-9 insulation thickness
gives builders another option when developing net-zero
homes, as well as meet more-stringent insulation and air
tightness requirements. ZIP System’s sheathing thicknesses
are approved for prescriptive wall bracing and engineered
shear walls.
The R-9 maintains the thermal envelope created when a
seamless airtight seal is formed. A more-effective thermal
envelope provides greater energy efficiency, and reduced
heating and cooling costs.
