Dear Readers,
.
Dear Readers,
This is another milestone for San Diego Woman Magazine, we are presenting our first ever “Expert Issue.” Over the 8 years
we’ve been publishing, we have had some amazing women, and men, who have graced our pages. Professionals, and
experts in numerous areas. Everything from Doctors to Roller Derby Queens, from CEOs to creators of products we use
every day and don’t even think twice about what life was without these inventions. We decided that we wanted to bring
these experts to our readers (in one issue) and asked them to provide a tip or hint of some kind to our readers. The
response was overwhelming. We have experts in so many different fields that we know you will come away from reading
this issue having learned at least one new thing that you didn’t know.
As you will notice we have had a big change. We have a new web address and a new website, which is currently a work in
progress. You can now find us at www.sdwomanmagazine.com.
My new email is editor@sdwomanmagazine.com. So please drop me a line to say hi or share
your stories with us.
We are always happy to share Veteran’s stories with our readers, so take a few moments to read
about these special San Diegans who served our country. We should think about the sacrifice
these brave soldiers make, not just on Veteran’s Day, but every day of the year.
Personally, this has been a very tough time for me. On January 5th I lost my brother; those who
know me are aware of the relationship that Joseph and I had over the years. My brother was
mentally ill, and I have been his caretaker since my mom’s passing 18 years ago. He was one of
the most brilliant and yet tortured souls, and also one of the kindest and most loving brothers
anyone could ask for. His unexpected passing, at the young age of 61, has devastated me and I
4 want to thank all of my friends, co-workers, advertisers, and readers for their kind words and love
they have shown me in my time of grief.
Aside from Joseph’s illness came a brilliance in writing poetry, and his poems have graced our pages in the past. In his
honor, I want to dedicate this issue to my beloved brother and allow our readers to enjoy his poetry one last time. This
poem was one he wrote to me in celebration of my birthday. Thank you Joseph - I miss you terribly. This one is for you!
Sincerely,
Judith A. Habert
