I couldn’t end my time
with Gloria without asking
what her tips would be for
anyone who wants to pursue
a career in real estate. She
suggested the following, “I
would say you really need
to have a thick skin, because
often you are dealing with
people in a stressful situation
in their lives. The second
thing I would say that you
really must have a lot of
money saved up. You can't
just get into real estate with
22,000 and counting, compet-
itors and expect to survive.
There's an 85% dropout rate
in real estate in the first year.
Come in with a second job
with a lot of flexibility or have
a huge savings account. The
last suggestion would be to
get in front of as many people
as you can. Try to meet at
least five new people a day,
every day. Because if you're
not meeting five new people
a day, every day you're not
going to make it.”
Gloria offers a workshop
to help get through the loss
of a parent and teaching
some valuable hints to be
sure that you don’t fall prey to
those who like to take advan-
tage of those at a vulnerable
time in their lives. “I offer a
workshop that is called, “Who
gets Grandma's yellow pie
plate.” Which touches upon
how to deal with the death
of a loved one, and how to
survive an, often tense time,
among family members who
may be trying to divide up
property. All the family mem-
bers can attend, and we can
teach them how to separate
non-titled goods. I provide
them with a workbook, and
they can work together col-
lectively, making sure every-
body's feelings are taken into
consideration at a time when
a family is already mourning
the loss of a loved one.
